The Nightingale was a Kraylor vessel that appeared to be a medical supply ship, but it was actually testing a new cloaking device. The Kraylor were a Delta Quadrant species, who were at war with the neighboring Annari and their homeworld had been blockaded by Annari vessels. It was almost impossible for supply ships transporting food and medicine to reach the planet’s surface. Despite being protected by a shield grid, which prevented the Annari from launching an invasion force, the Kraylor population was slowly being starved into submission. The Nightingale was one of two ships that managed to bypass the blockade.
The Gomtuu is an intelligent lifeform that survived a near-extinction of its race and may be the last of its kind. Upon being discovered by the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire, it was dubbed “Tin Man” and the “Star Creature”, respectively. Despite its “organic” appearance, the Gomtuu was capable of doing just about anything a traditional starship could do and it contained technology beyond that known to Federation science.
The Galactica (TOS) was built by the Twelve Colonies under Commander Adama and was thought to be the only flagship to survive the Thousand Yahren War with the Cylons. It was constructed for spaceflight, with a form that was part warship and part aquatic creature and was designed to carry a 500-strong crew of military and support personnel, including pilots of the Colonial Vipers. Despite the threat of the Cylons and depleting resources, Commander Adama gave the surviving crew and refugees hope to find the Thirteenth Colony that was settled on the planet Earth.
The Viper Mk VII is the updated model of the Viper Mk II originally used as the first line of defense against the Cylons. The first years of conflict between the Twelve Colonies of Kobol and their Cylon creations, which came to be known as the First Cylon war, took a massive toll on the Colonials. But after 12 years of fighting, without warning, the Cylons sued for peace. Following this unexpected armistice, an uneasy military put all its efforts into upgrading its massively depleted force. Now fitted with a fully networked software and CNP (Command Navigation Program) system, the Viper Mk VII was considered the most sophisticated craft in the Colonies.
